Brushstrokes and Injections: An Artist’s First Experience with Thread Lift, Botox and Filler
Step into an artist's world as she shares her first-time experience with Thread Lift, Filler and Botox at the Godley Clinic in Vancouver. Witness her journey and reflections in this excerpt from her journal, which reveals a surprising connection between the emotions evoked by artistic expression and those experienced during aesthetic treatment.
An excerpt from Caroline Weaver's journal:
Earlier this month, I met Dr. Mark Godley to discuss a collaboration and find common ground for a fun project to do together. We decided the best way to find some overlap would be to discuss our processes and circle around the common denominators. Which actually turned out to be a lot, even though he is an Aesthetics Doctor, and I’m a painter. We talked about composition, dealing with client expectations, and tools of our trades - but the one thing that really united us was our Philosophies.
Given that we all fundamentally remain the same core individual, bridging the gap between our past and present selves simultaneously. My artistic medium serves as a visual prompt, a gentle prod of "remember when?" while the doctors, in contrast, engage in the physical process of guiding someone back to their authentic self.
Very cool to hear about the new methods and techniques, and his visions for application, (which is very sculptural and more biohacking than anything). Much like making a piece of art, any addition almost always requires another action, whether it is adding another item or subtracting from another. It had never occurred to me that this would apply here, but of course, it would. At almost 43, I’d never given any of this real serious thought.
Super interesting, great chat, I started putting my coat on, thinking about the possibilities of working together in the future, when he said “Oh, you’re going? But don’t you want something?” I couldn’t think of anything really! “Like what? My eyes?”
Performing a Deepak Chopra body scan confirmed intuition. In my mind, it looked like this:
A: I’m not afraid of needles
B: I like to think I have an open mind
C: This guy is cool, I trust him
D: I got time
E: I like to party
Alright! Let’s sign these papers, lol. From our talks, I knew it wouldn’t be super fake-looking, which is not my thing. I barely do anything crazy to my hair or makeup. Since my wardrobe is HIGH KEY, I have to keep some things low key. Anyways, needle, needle, thread lift, botox and filler, two weeks later, the end result is super trippy, for lack of a better word! It’s like Dr. Godley painted a super flattering picture of me directly on my face!
In a way I look younger than in my 20s, granted I was a partier but STILL! Thanks Dr. Godley and your awesome caring staff, looking forward to the future!
